Why Ashmeridian

A Measured Approach to Pension Law

Pension matters require patience, careful reading of documentation, and a clear-eyed view of what the law actually provides. We take care not to overstate what can be achieved — and to be honest when a matter's prospects are uncertain.

Specialist Focus

Pension and retirement law only — not a general practice diluted across unrelated fields.

Written Advice

Every engagement produces a written record of the position — useful for your own records and any future proceedings.

Direct Access

You correspond directly with the adviser handling your matter, not filtered through a general intake team.

Fixed Scope

Work is agreed in defined stages. You understand what each step costs before it begins.

Take the First Step

Understand Your Pension Position Before You Need To

Many pension concerns become clearer — and more manageable — with a structured legal review. An initial consultation is the right starting point for most matters, with no commitment to proceed beyond.

Common Questions

Questions About Pension Legal Matters

What types of pension disputes does Ashmeridian handle?
We advise on disputes concerning occupational pension schemes, the interpretation of scheme rules, disagreements with pension administrators over entitlement calculations, and matters arising under the Employees Provident Fund Act and related legislation. We can also review situations where a pension has been reduced, delayed, or where transfer value disputes have arisen.
How long does a pension dispute typically take to resolve?
Timelines vary considerably depending on the nature of the dispute and the responsiveness of the pension administrator. Correspondence-based matters that resolve without contentious proceedings often conclude within two to six months. More complex disputes involving legal proceedings take longer. We set realistic expectations at the outset of each matter.
Is the initial consultation truly without further obligation?
Yes. The 90-minute consultation at MYR 450 is a standalone engagement. You receive a written summary note of the discussion, but there is no expectation or obligation to instruct us for further work. Many clients find the consultation itself resolves their uncertainty about what, if anything, they need to do.
What documentation should I bring to a consultation?
Any scheme documents you have received — member booklets, annual benefit statements, correspondence with your pension administrator, and any notices of changes to your benefits — are helpful. If you have received a decision or calculation you wish to query, please bring that as well. We can work with incomplete documentation, though a fuller picture allows a more thorough discussion.
Do you advise on EPF (Employees Provident Fund) matters?
Yes. EPF matters — including queries about contribution records, withdrawal eligibility, nomination disputes, and employer non-compliance — fall within our advisory scope. The EPF Act provides specific protections for members, and understanding how they apply to your circumstances is something we can assist with directly.
What is your fee structure for ongoing matters?
For the Administrator Correspondence and Negotiation service, work is billed in defined stages. Before each stage commences, we agree the scope and anticipated cost in writing. You are not committed to the next stage until you have received the outcome of the preceding one. This structure means you retain control over the engagement throughout.
